Summer Programs

SUMMER PROGRAMS
The City of Opelousas offers several summer recreation programs at the North City Park and South City Park Recreation Centers. Many of these programs are open the first week in June, Monday through Friday, for six weeks and are free of charge (unless specified). Times* are 9:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Baseball/Softball Program
Registration begins in March - April of each year. Games begin in the later part of May through the middle of July. Registration fee is $25.00* per child.

Tennis Lessons
Begins on the first Monday in June. Classes are held *Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12 pm hourly. Classes last for six weeks and there is a $3.00* per week per person fee.

Swimming Lessons
Begins the second Monday in June. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12 pm hourly. There are two 3-week sessions and there is a $45 fee for a 3-week session per child. (Unavailable at this time)

Art &Crafts Classes
Begins the first Monday in June. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8 am - 12 pm hourly. Classes last for six weeks and there is no charge.

Senior Citizen Program
Begins the first *Tuesday in June and every Tuesday after for six weeks. There is no charge for our Senior Citizen Program. We offer aerobics, table games, bingo and zydeco dancing.

Biddy Basketball League
Registration begins in *October. There is a $15 fee per child. Games begin in December of each year through March. The ages range from 7 to 12 years of age and games or played on Saturdays.

Football Program
Registration begins in July. There is a $75 fee per child for contact football and a $15 fee for child for flag football. Games are held on Saturdays and September and October. Ages 7 to 12 years.
